I answer this question everyday. With the company I work for, the answer is yes. Many times I ask a double deposit if the credit is not the best. It really depends on what is on the credit report.

Most landlords would not give him a chance without at least a double deposit (or the maximum deposit allowed per your state’s laws) and a co-signer that owns property with excellent credit & stable income.
If someone came to him with bad credit would he risk letting his house to them. He could try a private Landlord but personally I would’nt take the risk.
Consider renting from a private landlord, not a complex. He should be able to get into a place, one way or another.
Try to find an apartment building with the owner on site. Then you can talk directly to the owner and explain that while you have bad credit (due to circumstances beyond your control which are now resolved) you are a very good tenant, always pay your bills on time, do not have loud parties or a barking dog or screaming kids, etc. Point out your good qualities to a person who can make the decision about whether to rent to you.
fix his credit and then rent.
I’m guessing there are judgements. Do the right thing and pay them off.
