If I make a cash advance with my credit card and pay it off on the same day, will I still get charged interest?

Question by : If I make a cash advance with my credit card and pay it off on the same day, will I still get charged interest?
I bought something from a store and signed up to their 6 months zero interest credit. I need to return the item to the store but they said I can’t return it until I pay off the balance. I can’t use my Visa to pay it because you can’t use credit to pay credit, so would getting a cash advance be a good idea for this? When I pay off the balance with the stores credit, they said I’ll be able to return the item.

Answer by Ginger
You will be charged very little interest for the cash advance if paid off quickly but the ca tran fee can be huge, like 3%. I don’t know why they want you to pay it off first and then get credit for the return! I just hate those 6 month and 12 month zero offers that bite you in the end, or in your case the beginning.

Are you not going through with a substitute? This requirement to pay for it and then get a credit makes absolutely no sense to me.

Q&A: What happens if a cash advance loan goes unpaid?

Question by pretty_girl_tc: What happens if a cash advance loan goes unpaid?
I have a cash advance loan out and don’t have the cash to pay it back. If the post dated check goes through I will be in major debt. I wanted to put a stop payment on my check. What action will the lenders take?

Best answer:

Answer by Tim S

What is predatory? A short term payday loan that charges you a fee of $ 15 to $ 25 per $ 100 loaned for two weeks or a $ 35 NSF and daily overdrafts that can cause more NSF fees from a bank?

You needed a loan that apparently you were were unable to get from your bank and now you want to forgo paying it back by placing a stop payment on the check. You received a service for a fee and stopping the check for false reasons is fraud.

Depending on who you received your loan with, they could cause you a lot of grief. If they are reputable then you should call them to work out a payment plan (not a rollover option). No lending institution wants a loan to default.

Good luck

What is your opinion on cash advances? & is personal cash advance a trustworthy site?

Question by Me: What is your opinion on cash advances? & is personal cash advance a trustworthy site?
I’m looking to take out a cash advancement here in a few weeks if I get the new job I’m hoping for which would mean I would have to relocate and I don’t have the money for that right now. I’m looking to take out a cash advance loan until I get my first check at the new job. What have your experiences with these types of services been, and do you think it’s a good idea? Thanks.

Answer by NaturesDoctor
No, no, no, no – If you have a credit card you may be able to get a cash advance, you say if you get the new job. It is easier after you have the new job to take out the advance.

Can a payday loan company cash a cheque after being returned NSF?

Question by : Can a payday loan company cash a cheque after being returned NSF?
I am interested in finding out if a Payday Loan company can cash a cheque after it has been returned by the bank as NSF. They cheque was for $ 500.00 and it was cashed at $ 100.00 increments 5 times a day, resulting in 5 NSF fees per day!

Best answer:

Answer by Ezebert T
A returned check can be resubmitted more than once. My father has a small business and from time to time gets checks from customers that bounce. The bank always sends him a letter with a note that the check can be resubmitted x number of times for payment. Until now, I hadn’t heard of a check being cashed in increments like that.

Q&A: How can one use their credit cards to invest without the investment qualifying as a cash advance?

Question by Michael P: How can one use their credit cards to invest without the investment qualifying as a cash advance?
Everybody knows using a credit card at the ATM or bank will qualify the transaction as a cash advance and cash advances carry a rather high rate. However today I heard a bit on the news;how to make money off of the credit card companies rather than them making it off of you. It featured some investment guru who talked about using available balances on credit cards for investments that have a higher rate of return than the credit card carries. I have a 0% until July 2007 with plenty to invest if I decided to do this, but how would I avoid the cash advance rate if it would be regarded as cash? Are there any investments that would list the transaction as a purchase? Please help, I am confused.

Best answer:

Answer by foxhound

First of all what kind of investment is going to give you a guaranteed return by July? You won’t even have time for a 6 month CD. And what kind that you can cash out in so short a time?

Investment means risk no matter what. What happens if they don’t pan out as expected? You will still need to pay the credit company. Plus you have to make payments as you go along. In addition 0% in most cases mean that if you have slow payed or have not paid the card to zero by the end of the offer you owe the regular APR retroactively on the previous balances.

There are way to many variables to even consider this as a good idea. Credit is the number one investment in life that one can make and it’s not worth making a few bucks to mess it up. Good credit means you get the best deal in buying a car, car insurance, housing, medical insurance and everything. You lose a bit of money that you saved and invested well you just lost it. Screw up the credit and it can follow you and cost you big bucks for up to 10 years!

What would happen if I stop payment on a large payday cash advance check?

Question by Ang: What would happen if I stop payment on a large payday cash advance check?
Would they let me just pay them back in smaller payments? Or would I get in some kind of trouble?
1. I have not stopped payment yet, it’s due to come thru the bank Monday, do you think I can call them beforehand and set smallest payment up?
2. My check will not bounce, my bank will cash it and i will go negative a grand.
3. This is a store lender, check-smart, not internet lender.

Best answer:

Answer by Answer Guru
Well here’s something I just pulled up: “If the account is short on funds to cover the check, the borrower may now face a bounced check fee from their bank in addition to the costs of the loan, and the loan may incur additional fees and/or an increased interest rate as a result of the failure to pay”. That sounds serious, unless you know your going to have doubled that check in like 3 months, I would just pay and get it over with.
