The Bank Analyst’s Handbook: Money, Risk and Conjuring Tricks

The Bank Analyst’s Handbook: Money, Risk and Conjuring Tricks

The Bank Analyst's Handbook: Money, Risk and Conjuring Tricks

It is not uncommon to meet professionals in financial services who have only a vague idea of what their colleagues actually do. The root cause is specialization and the subsequent development of jargon that makes communication between common specialists faster and more precise but is virtually impenetrable to everybody else.

The Bank Analyst’s Handbook provides a modern introduction to financial markets and intermediation. Individual subject areas are covered in a thorough but clear and succinct manner. The breadth of the author’s experience as a sell-side bank analyst is exploited to good effect to pull together these threads and create a coherent framework for the analysis of financial markets, whether these are in advanced economies or developing markets.

The Handbook is well-written and highly accessible. It builds on orthodox financial theory (with all of its flaws and controversies) but also highlights many of the real problems involved with translating such theory into practice. It can be appreciated at many different levels and this explains its wide target readership. The Bank Analyst’s Handbook:

  • Bridges the gap between the more superficial introductory books and specialist works
  • Covers all the important functions and subjects related to the financial services industry
  • Provides a comprehensive overview for financial services professionals, business school students, consultants, accountants, auditors and legal practitioners, analysts and fund-managers and corporate managers.

“An excellent guide for any professionals who are coming into the banking industry. Extremely well-written, covering clearly and lucidly a range of topics which many bankers themselves don’t understand. I will make this book mandatory reading – no, make that studying – for anybody I hire to work as a financial sector consultant.”
—Chris Matten, Executive Director, PricewaterhouseCoopers

“A great insight into the often murky and impenetrable world of banking… compulsory reading for analysts and investors alike.”
—Hugh Young, Managing Director, Aberdeen Asset Management Asia Ltd

Where can I get an unsecured loan with bad credit?

Question by Corey W: Where can I get an unsecured loan with bad credit?
I need to figure out a way to get some kind of installment loan for around 3k-5k. I make good money, but I don’t have good credit at all. Are there any kind of helpful companies for something like this?

Best answer:

Answer by Voice Maxed
No institution would afford you an unsecured loan with bad credit. If you can’t get a credit card, then forget the cash loan.

You said that you make “Good Money” if you make $ 3K to $ 5K then you make be able to to get a payday loan but this doesn’t qualify as an installment loan as you were asking for.
Another option is to pawn something of value, this however does not qualify as unsecured.
So there, i guess the answer to your question is nowhere.

What are some quick and easy ways for an eleven year old to make money?

Question by U : What are some quick and easy ways for an eleven year old to make money?
My mom says I have to buy everything for myself from now on, so I need to know some ways to make quick cash (and I don’t mean mow peoples lawns, sell newspapers, etc.).
I can’t make the money from my family cause they’re cheepskates.

Well, if you’re not into the old fashioned business of going around making money, try more unique ways.
At my mothers work, she is friends with someone who’s son (who is also eleven) makes fudge and trail mix and sells them through the work for about five dollars each.
He has made a lot of money so far, and I actually envy him, even though I am older.
Another interesting job is to buy and sell on eBay, with your parents’ permission and help. It takes a lot of work to master it, but it can be worthwhile. A yardsale is also nice.

I know you said you’re not interested in the little things, but those do add up! There’s a story of someone who bought a cheap lawnmower for about 10 dollars, and then made 10,000 dollars in one year!
Just look around for random jobs and it will eventually pay off. Tutoring, painting, helping out in offices, etc.

Don’t spend it on frivolous things like candy or toys, because eventually, you won’t even remember owning those things! It’s basically like throwing your money away.

The Money Changers: Currency Reform from Aristotle to E-Cash

The Money Changers: Currency Reform from Aristotle to E-Cash

The Money Changers: Currency Reform from Aristotle to E-Cash

Since money was invented, there has been a debate about better ways of creating it and better rules to govern how it works – until the last generation, when it began to seem that the money system had been handed down by God and remained unchanged ever since. But the last few years have seen an increasingly powerful resurgence of interest in changing the system fundamentally, and bringing the monetary trends that affect all our lives under our control. Few realize that the debate has roots and a tradition, covering mainstream economists like Keynes and Hayek, statesmen like Lincoln, entrepreneurs like Ford and Soros, as well as the imaginative mavericks behind local currencies and e-money. This volume collects together some of their most influential writings to provide a handbook on a vital train of ideas, and a guide to a debate on changing money that is becoming increasingly important.

Q&A: How do you get into rental properties with no money down?

Question by Pale Face: How do you get into rental properties with no money down?
I’m trying to get into real estate as a landlord in the Houston area. I have no down payment, but excellent credit. Thanks in advance for your help.

Best answer:

Answer by Real Estate Guy

First, with investment loans you need 20% or more down.

However, look long and hard at getting involved in this!!!

Even if you could find 100% financing, your rental income will NOT cover the loan. This mean that you would be covering the difference between your rent coming in and your mortgage payment.

For example. Lets say that your rental income is $ 1,000 a month. However, your mortgage payment is $ 1,500 a month. You would need to come with an additional $ 500 a month just to break even.

A rule of thumb is this: your total monthy expenses on a rental, including the mortgage, taxes, insurance shouldn’t be more the 50% of the total rent coming in. If you can get $ 1,200 a month rent, your total mortgage (PITI) shouldn’t be more then $ 600 a month.

You will look at this an assume that the other 50% ($ 600/mn) is profit. WRONG. This will cover upkeep, renting expenses and other costs.
You can’t; you have to have money to put down.
